About the Event

Dr. Richard Weaver Wynn, a Family Practice Physician, has practiced in Charlotte since 1995.  In 2015 Dr. Wynn retired from Atrium after 20 years as Medical Director of Cotswold Family Medicine and began working to create Amity Medical Group. He continues to serve as clinical faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill.  Dr. Wynn is recognized as an expert in the management of diabetes, substance abuse, and obesity.  He is one of the founders of the Charlotte Transgender Healthcare Group and is skilled in performing minor office surgeries. He has served as mentor and preceptor to many medical students and residents and serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill. He is now the Chief Medical Officer of Amity Medical Group.

Amity Medical Group is a nonprofit practice that specializes in primary and chronic care, including the best regional HIV specialists, diabetes specialists, weight loss management, and preventative care services. AMG has an intentional outreach to the immigrant community, regardless of immigration or refugee status. AMG serves as a training site for UNC School of Medicine and UNC School of Pharmacy.  AMG’s philosophy of medical care has created practice that cares for the whole community, the insured, underinsured and uninsured.

In our session, Dr. Wynn will share about his experience and what he’s learned about making health care widely accessible to ALL.

*Given the continued presence of Covid-19 in our community and our desire to protect one another, this will be a virtual event.
